My son jammed two DVD's into the DVD Player on our Mac OS X 10.9.4 and I can't eject. DVD Player does not recognize the discs and neither does Finder to eject. Anyone have experience with this?

well-assuming you have a Mac Pro (the big silver tower), try this:

pull down the aluminum shutter at the top of the front of the tower with your fingers, exposing the dvd drive. You should be able to stick a straightened paperclip into the hole at the front of the drive which should release the tray and allow you to retrieve the 2 dvd's. failing that, shut the machine down and remove the side panel, wait a bit. the dvd drive is in a cage towards the front, before the hard drives. if you pull gently towards you, you will be able to get at the dvd drive. disconnect the power cable (the white one) and the data cable (the black, longer and thinner one) and take the whole works out and put it on a clean surface. using a #1 or #0 phillips screwdriver, remove the screws that hold the dvd drive in the cage, and take it out. using a regular Phillips screwdriver, you should now be able to take the top of the metal case off of the dvd drive itself. the dvd's should be in there. put the top of the case back, put the screws back in and put the drive back in the cage. please note: there is a correct direction for the drive to go. you want it facing the front, and on either the first 2 pairs of screw holes or the 2nd 2 pairs, depending on where it was originally. put the screws back. reattach the power and data cable to the drive, and line up the 2 trenches on the bottom of the cage, with the 2 pins where the dvd drive goes. slide it forward and away from you. If you have done it correctly, the trenches and pins will line up and the cage will go in smoothly. put the side panel back on the mac pro, push the locking lever down at the back and restart your machine. Sounds to me like someone's going to get their access privileges curtailed.....

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive

Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:

1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the

left mouse button until the disc ejects.

2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.

3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.

4. Press COMMAND-E.

5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in

your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:

/usr/bin/drutil eject

If this fails then try this:

Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

If you are unsuccessful with all of the above, then you will have to remove the drive in order to access the mechanism and attempt a manual removal. Some people have used tape to adhere to the disc and pull it out. Others have been able to manually trigger the eject mechanism. Or make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.
